Quality Standards and Paper Grades

(2) Mixed Paper

Includes phone books, neon and deep toned paper, junk mail, blue prints, shoe boxes, cereal boxes, paper labels from cans and bottles, wrapping paper (non-foil), soda boxes, paper Up books, etc.

(7) Newspaper

Loose, clean newspaper that is no more then 1 year old.  Newspaper and inserts only.  Anything that comes in the newspaper can be recycled with the newspaper.  No magazines, paper or plastic bags, phonebooks, twine or packing material.

(10) Magazines

Keep separated.  Slick or glossy only, including catalogs.  Anything over 1" thick should be broken down to 1/2".  Please, no phone books.

(12) Corrugated Cardboard

Corrugated cardboard boxes and brown kraft grocery bags only.  No waxed cardboard, shoe boxes, cereal or soda boxes.  No twine, wood, metal or wire banding.  No trash.

(13) Double-lined Kraft Clippings

Baled new corrugated cuttings having liners of either test liner, jute, or kraft.  Treated medium or liners, insoluble adhesives, butt rolls, slabbed or hogged medium, are not acceptable in this grade.

(19)Kraft Grocery Bags

Baled, new brown kraft bag cuttings, sheets and misprint bags

High Grade Paper

(28) Coated Soft White Shavings

Baled unprinted, coated, and uncoated shavings and sheets of white ground wood free printing paper.

(30) Hard White Shavings

Baled shavings or sheets of unprinted, untreated white ground wood free paper.

(37) Office Pack

Colored paper, white paper, carbonless paper, computer paper, envelopes, folders, index cards, brochures and flyers.  Please no neon or deep tones, treated or coated paper, newspaper, cardboard, or thermal fax paper.

(38) Sorted Colored Ledger

Baled, uncoated, printed, or unprinted sheets, shavings and cuttings of colored or white ground wood free ledger, bond, writing, and other paper which has similar fiber and filler content.

(40) White Ledger

White typing and copy paper with a minimum of black ink.  This can include green or blue bar computer paper.

(42) Computer Paper

White ground wood free paper in forms manufactured for use in data processing machines

(43) Coated Book Stock

Coated ground wood free paper, printed or unprinted in sheets, shavings, guillotined books and cuttings.

(50) Unprinted Bleached Plate Stock

Baled ground wood free bleached coated or uncoated, untreated printed plates and sheets.  Must be be free of coatings or inks that are insoluble.

Mixed Loads Purchased from Haulers

Mixed Office Paper

Commercial Mixed Office Paper, is MOP, and is a mixture of all recyclable Paper generated within an office.  The Residual shall be less than one percent of the load.

Mixed Residential

A mixture of all properly prepared residential recyclable papers, plastic containers, and metals that Haulers are required to collect as a condition of their franchises from single-family residences within their Service Area.  The Residual shall be less than one percent of the load.

Mixed Multi-family

A mixture of all properly prepared recyclable papers, plastic containers, and metals that Haulers are required to collect as a condition of their franchises from multi-family residences within their Service Area.  The Residual shall be less than one percent of the load.

Commercial Mixed OCC

A mixture of various grades of Paper of which OCC is greater than 70% of the mix and the combination of OCC and Office Pack is greater than 95% of the load. The Residual shall be less than one percent of the load.

Residual

The non-recyclable material (i.e. garbage) sorted out from the Mixed Residential and the Mixed Office Paper and sent to the landfill by Far West Fibers, Inc.
